How long can a perscription of antibiotics last.?

Question:
I have a precautioinary bottle that my doc gave me. I believe my sinus infection has come back. But it dates back 2/18/03.
I wanted to know if I can still use it. Or pay an expensive bill for a visit just for more antibiotics.

Answers:
It is most likely expired and ineffective at this point. Give your doctor a call, and he may refill it without a visit- if it has been a while though since you saw your doctor last, you will have to go in for a visit.

Other Answers:
Open your front door, and throw those as far as you possibly can.Sorry, but you will have to pay for another Dr. visit.
Generally antibiotics are only good for a few months after the date they are filled..But.you can always call the pharmacy where you had them filled and ask the pharmacist..
DO NOT USE IT it may poison your system because it is expired. most anti biotics depending on the type has a shelf life anywhere from 3 months to 12 months
Throw it away, medications over time can change and give other effects than the one they were designed for.
if I were you, I prefer to visit the doctor, because the prescription of the doctor might change coz it depends of the infection you have now, even if it is the same problem but those are differnt stage. Don't mind, the money you pay the mean thing is your health. Take care!
the potency of many med's usually only last 6 months to a year. its really best for you to go back to the doctor and get a new prescription. besides there are so many types of sinus and colds going around that you might have one now that the antibiotics that where giving to you in '03 wont cure. you need the right pill for the right sickness.
