the what kind of doctor specializes in lower lumbar area?

Question:
I do not want a chiropractor(been there done that).I have had MRI"S and catscan's before but something is wrong and I don't know what kind of doctor I should be seeing.I have never stayed the same after a car accident.

Answers:
An orthopedic surgeon is one choice. A neurologist is another choice. I would probably start with the orthopedic and then if he/she decides it is nerve related, then I would go with the neurologic doctor. I would get a couple different opinions tho. Back surgery is a 50/50 thing.

Other Answers:
Perhaps an orthopedist?
I specialize in just below the lumbar
either an orthopedic or neurologist
Orthopedic.
You can try an orthopedic or a musculoskeletal doctor. It took a chiropractor that specialized in treating people who had been in accidents to diagnose me after 3 years of hurting. Your best bet is usually to see a chiropractor that treats a lot of car accident victims because they will usually have seen other people with your problem.
A D O which is a Dr of osteopath may be able to help you, I hope you get some relief.

Also I give an AWESOME back rub if you would like
Orthopedic specializes in bone and disk problems.

Neurologist specializes in nerve disorders.

I have had a ruptured disk and had to see one of each.

Good luck!
I have had lower back pain all my life and finally found the answer. If there is no serious injury to the back, exercise is really good. I do sit-ups before getting out of bed every morning with knees bent up about 45 degrees and arms across chest so elbows can touch opposite knee each time you come up. It also helps to squat down and stretch the back with neck down. Start with just a few and over time work up to a higher number. I am up to 100 now. Walking and push-ups from the knee are also good for you.
I second the DO (doctor of osteopathy). Other suggestions include: Craniosacral therapy, Rolfing or Hellerwork.
