i run 3 miles a day. how many miles would i have to do on a bike to get the same workout?

It depends on what gear you use, but probably right around double or a bit over. Go for about 7 miles but you won't be excercising the same muscles cycling as you would be running. It's not the same.

At a good pace, I would say about 20 miles, but it is very tough to compare both sports because we have no clue what effort you put in when running or biking. Just go by what your body tells you.
