Does anyone know what causes your stomach to rumble.?

Question:
The somach doesn't hurt, there's no pain at all. Just sound and movement.

If you know of any good websites that might help, that would be appreciated. Thanks

Answers:
Bowel sounds that you are describing are also called borygami. It is caused by the rapid release of water or contents from one area to another. Bowel sounds in general re caused by the peristaltic action of the muscles in your GI tract. As normal flora (bacteria) produces gases the movement of the muscles cause the gas to push over rings in the intestine and create sound waves. Think about water and air sloshing around inside a water bed. To much sound is called hyperactive and can be an indication of diarrhea or other gi upset. hypoactive sounds can be due to surgery, infection, obstruction(either intestinal or blood flow) or medication.
