How do we ensure that bottle used for collecting water sample to be tested for drinking purpose is fit.?

I went through this, and was told to boil water until the temp is about 120'. Submerge the container for the testing into the boiling water, remove it with tongs after about 4 minutes., be sure to not touch the inside of the jar or container. When you boil the container, be sure to boil the lid also. Don't burn yourself, when taking it out of the boiling water, OK?? Just try & put the lid straight out of the boiling water onto the jar,(not touching the inside of it either, ok? This was told to me by a Dept of Health Personal at a Clinic. Hope this helps.
