It's a fungal infection. There are fungal organisms on and in us and we usually have no problems with them. When you sweat and stay damp in a spot that doesn't have a free flow of air the fungi are happy as can be and multiply at an alarming rate. The treatment is an antifungal cream you can buy at the drug store. The cheapest is usually the clortrimazole cream sold for vaginal yeast infections. Don't use the applicator to put it inside you. Wash with a gentle soap-a non deoderant one is best-and dry very carefully in the groin area. Apply the cream twice a day after drying. When it gets healed up use powder-plain cornstarch is a good cheap choice- to absorb moisture. It may flare up again. If it does, go back to using the cream till healed. This infection is also common under the breast and especially under the abdominal flap if you're heavy.Wearing all cotton underwear can also help as nylon traps moisture. If you do this faithfully and it won't clear,or you get other areas, get tested for diabetes as this is sometimes, but not usually,a factor.

I use baby Powder
try Cornstarch instead of baby / poweder unless its Gold bond it helps itching
Try using baby powder or anti-rash creams. and possibly covering it with some kind of bandage, so that clothing will not rub on it as much. Also, try applying baby powder or other kinds of moisture absorbing powders (golds medicated powder etc) before you go out to work, so that you dont chaff again.
bayby powder and maybe some aloe
My roommate swears by Gold Bond medicated powder. He gets horrible heat rash in the summer with lots of chaffing. He uses Goldbond and it clears right up.
Not fun, I get that chafing too. There is a chafing gel made by Monistat- its in the "personal care" aisle- that works GREAT! Its kinda expensive ($8) for a small tube, but a little goes a long way and lasts for a good couple of months of use.
I used to work in a daycare center and the absolute best possible help for chafing sweaty skin is burnt flower. Im not even kidding!! LOL Get out your moms old cast iron skillet, throw about half a cup of flower on it and cook it dry till it starts to brown. Its gonna smell like hell when your burning it, but it absorbs the sweat better than anything we found and provides a barrier between your skin and whats rubbing against it. If you don't like the smell of it on your skin you can mix it 1:1 with baby powder.
It sounds like you have a fungal infection; very common to males in the summer. Get some spray Tinactin. It will look better in one day; and be gone in about 3. Remember, this is a fungus so ordinary lotion or baby powder won't cure it. AFTER you get it cured with an anti-fungal, try using Gold Bond powder daily in this area. It will help. Please don't try the 'burnt flour' cure; that won't help a fungus.

My man just went through this. Sweating!
My son plays alot of baseball and he is dealing with it right now. I made up some comfrey salve. You can buy it at the health food store. Comfrey has properties in it that heal the skin. use this at night before you go to bed and it will be gone in the morning.
wash frequently with lots of soap and warm water, pat it gently dry, keep it dry. use an anti-fungal spray if it lasts more than a day or so isn't friction related.
baby powder works good
Powder after your morning shower. And try using a different type of underwear, that is not to confining.
I would use cornstarch or gold bond frequently during breaks or when you remember..if these dont work then you need to try antifungal creams to treat jock itch.its probably just yeast ..dont fret it will get better with the topical creams if you follow the directions thoroughly.
I get the same thing from wearing sliding pants for baseball. I normally powder myself up prior to putting on the pants, then afterwards, use a diaper rash ointment or jock itch spray or ointment (over the counter med). Keeping it dry down there is the big key.
it could be anything from candida or jock itch. simple because you sweat a lot there which is kinda nice breeding ground for fungus to grow. i suggest you see a dermatologist to get a prescription for a good antifungal.
We live in Arizona, and my husband and sons all have this problem during the summer. It helps to wash thoroughly, with a good soap that doesn't irritate, dry, or over-moisturize your skin. Wash quite thoroughly after work, and if you take a morning shower, wash gently and not too much. It's still pretty clean from washing after work.
Baby powder will help keep the area more dry, but the fragrances and such can irritate the raw area. Try plain ordinary corn starch if the fragrances bother your skin, or you just don't care to smell like that. Put a bit of it into a little container and take it to work with you, if it helps, and you can put more on mid-day as it gets rubbed off your skin. If the skin is raw, use an antibiotic ointment like Neosporin at bedtime, to help heal the area. Or use diaper rash cream. It's a moisture rash, like diaper rash. Same concept, different cause.
Boxer shorts, instead of briefs or boxer briefs, can also help in keeping the area from getting too irritated. When it happens to me in the hotter summers, being that I'm a girl and all, I wear old-fashioned ladies' underwear that has elastic legs. Actually I just take boxers and put elastic into the hem at the legs, and pretend it's old-fashioned ladies' underwear. All the looseness and comfort I need, and I feel covered as with regular underwear.
If that doesn't clear it up, or seems to make it worse, go see a doctor.
Go and and see your doctor for Dermovate Cream put it on in the morning and in the evening after also after a shower and it will be gone within 3 weeks.
But from now on you need to wear boxers only to stop the rash rubbing on your clothes and you cant share a towel and need a new towel everytime you shower.
GOLD BOND MEDICATED POWDER WORKS GREAT, IT HAS A COOLING AFFECT.
