i closed my finger in a door and i know i have to put a hole in my nail, how is the best way to do it?

Question:
heating a needle
or using a screw

Answers:
Use the needle, babe. You need to relieve the pressure building up in your nail, but you don't have to drill a hole in it. Soak your finger in warm water to soften the nail. Then take a sterilized needle and poke a hole in the center of your nail. Try just to pierce the nail and not the flesh beneath it. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, ask a parent or doctor to do it for you.

screw it hard and fast..lol

What? doctors they heat tiny needle pierce nail you wont feel it do it before pressure build up saves alot of pain

why do u have to put a hole in ur nail? thats bull. but geez that had to hurt, sorry!

Why do you ahve to put a hole in your nail? eh..

huh, what are talking about. ummmmmmmmm..i suggest you go see a doc.don't try it yourself.infection, ouch..lol

Don't put a hole in your nail. Don't bother it's not going to help that much just let it heal by itself. It's your body's natural way.

Heated needle and do it NOW! All it does is relieve pressure, but that sure helps.

ouch. let a doctor do it. at least they can dope you up if you want You are proposing voodoo majic. The only thing to do is to let it heal by itself. Putting a hole in it would allow bacteria in.

use a knife with a sharp point.. slowly spin the point of the knife like a drill until blood starts coming out. if you do it right, its pretty painless.

use a drill bit

what do you need a hole for

close the door on it a few more times

i would have a doctor do it

always use restraints

I use the pointed tip of an x-acto knife. It's easier to control than a screw and doesn't require heating. Just place the point where you want to make a hole, and rotate the knife handle while applying gentle pressure.

Those people who don't understand why you are doing this have obviously never had this kind of injury. The pressure under the nail from broken blood vessels can cause excruciating pain unless it is released.

Power drill. Just kidding. I think this would require one of my favorite classic warnings from pro wrestling: kids, don't try this at home. I'd recommend going to the doctor & having it checked out first. Then, if you do need a hole in your fingernail, a trained professional can do it for you. Don't put a hole in your nail. Put ice on your finger and if it's that bad, have a doctor do it. You could get infected and make it worse!

You dont have to put a hole in your nail. It will either heal on its own or the finger nail will fall off and then a new one will grow back.

I helped a friend do it.

Heat a needle with a lighter for a minute and have someone else do it for you while you grab something to squeeze. You'll feel better within seconds!

Use a hot needle. but be very careful. go slow.you may have to heat it a few times to get through the nail. Make sure that you don't just push really hard.it could cause a bad infection under the nail that way. DON'T use either one! The very best method is to use an "EXACTO KNIFE" with a new pointed blade. Just place the point in the center of the blood under the nail and begin spinning the blade with your other hand and let "gravity" do the pressure. The instant it pierces the nail, blood will appear and the pressure will be relieved!

P.S. Be sure and STERILIZE the blade before using it.
