I am taking prednisone 60mg once a day for over 100 flea bites and i have had a horrible headache since this?

I have had it since this afternoon. Is this a side effect of this mediation and should i continue to take it? My dr. said to take it for 5 days for the itching, it has helped the itching but now i feel like i have the worst migraine of my life!! I don't know which is worse the itching or feeling like my head is being crushed and my eyes are killing me with blurry vision and dizziness!

This is a common side effect of prednisone. You should call your physician and ask him or her to prescribe an alternative steroid (like Medrol). This is usually as effective and has a better side effect profile.

I don't have a answer for ya, but Wow! How did you get so many flea bites? Maybe you should call the doctor's office or even the ER nurse and ask them what you should do? Better to safe than sorry. Good luck.

I would call your Dr. immediately to report on the side effects. Prednisone is a wonderful drug for many things but its side effects can be terrible. You should be on a reducing dosage as you go through the 5 days. That will help your headache because there will be less of it in your system. You must have had a pretty severe reaction for this med. treatment. DO NOT DISCONTINUE without slowly decreasing. You think your headache is bad. Prednisone requires tapering off. Side effects can also include stomach upset, constipation.but it does the job it is prescribed to do.with a little extra.

Good luck. Drink lots of water. Stay in a cool place and sleep, if you can afford to.

Yuck!! sounds very itchy. Discontinue the medicine and try Aveeno Oatmeal Body Wash and also get the Oatmeal Powder Milk Bath also by Aveeno. The work wonders and pop a couple of Benadryls You'll be fine.

But my daughter was taking tht same medication for croup.

Medrol is the same thing as prednisone actually. Do not stop taking it withouth your physicians permission. Steroids should be tapered off and not stopped cold turkey,
