Can a Neuro-Ophthalmologist prescribe medication for Migraines? An MRI concluded I have migraine..but...?

Question:
I was told by his secretary to consult my family doctor...family doctor won't prescribe headache medication. What am I supposed to do??

Answers:
Most of the time, a doctor who specializes, in your case, Neuro probrobly won't prescribe your meds because you need to see your family doctor. Why won't your family doctor prescribe it to you? He certainly is able to. Go to your Neuro doctor again and see if he/she can prescribe it for you. If he won't, explain to him the situation and see if he might call your family doctor to see what is the problem.

Other Answers:
Your neurologist should be able to prescibe the medicine for you. I suffer from migraines too and I go to a neuro who prescribes the meds to me. You need to talk to your neruo directly.
try sinus buster...

burns like h*ll, but it does get rid of the headaches...

and drink something high in caffeine. my doc said that all the 'migraine' pain killers just have caffeine added...
Wow, I have worked in the medical field for years and have never heard of that I am sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble. I would suggest talking with your Neuro-Ophthalmologist some of them will, but it is not very likely.

Otherwise I would suggest finding a family doctor that can better meet your needs, I know you probably have a relationship with your doctor but you need a physician that can meet your needs. If you do not feel comfortable changing doctors, then I would have your current doctor refer you to a neurologist for your migraines.

Good luck.
