usually it is nothing after midnight....so 8 to 10 hours
If you want your fasting blood sugar test checked, it must be at least 8 hours This is usually possbible only in the morning after a night's sleep!

A post prandial test determines the blood sugar level after a meal..so this test can be taken in 2 hours after a full meal, but not later than 3 hours after a meal.
Midnight on...
Nothing after midnight...However, they are rethinking their bohemian ideas...Especially when one is diabetic, they must eat...
It was always 12 hours for me.
you're not supposed to fast. you need to eat to keep your blood sugar up to the level it needs to be for you to function properly. if you fast before a testing, your blood sugar will drop, giving the test an inaccurate reading, giving you inaccurate results, and the result of that could be your doctor putting you on blood sugar medicine that could in turn do damage because you don't really need it. i suggest that you eat something 3 hours before your appointment. it takes 3 hours for food to digest and the nutrients to disperse throughout your system, so when you take your blood sugar test, it should be accurate.
Do not eat anything in the morning except having a cup of tea or coffee. Then get your blood sample. say about 9.00 A.M. Then have your full meal at about 9.30 A.M. Then after two hours you must give your blood sample again.
