Head bump is a Muscle Bundle? Went to the doctor, and this is what he told me.?

Question: So I've had this lump on the back of my head (parallel with my ears) for several years (~6) and it hasn't really bothered me much except for occassional pain. This past year it has started bothering me a lot more frequently and the pain is more severe and lasts longer. I went to the doctor (waited an hour) and spent five minutes with him for him to tell me that it's a muscle bundle and there's nothing to do about it other than take advil or another anti-inflammatory. I can't even find any information about muscle bundles on wikipedia or google, could this just be bunk and he has no idea what it is? It hasn't grown, it doesn't move, and there isn't another one on the other side of my head. It just hurts a lot, kind of like pulling a muscle I suppose. So I guess the question is, has anyone had any experience with a muscle bundle, or some other growth of this kind?

Answers:
I would suggest getting a second opinion and have the area imaged using CT or MRI to see what is going on. While the second doctor may say that it's nothing also, I certainly wouldn't depend on just one opinion.

I think your doctor should have emphasized that this is nothing to worry about and that a simple anti-inflammatory taken daily will help you to resolve your discomfort. It's natural to wonder about these things but once you have the answer, it's time to follow the doctor's directions and focus your attention on something else.
Here's a good mantral, "It's just my muscle bundle, now I'm moving on, someday I'll reaize that it is all gone."
