How can I avoid sleep when I feel sleepy when I study and how much time a 16-year old boy should sleep?

I usually feel sleepy when I start studying.
I sit in a separate room for studying.
I fall asleep as soon as I feel sleepy.
I sleep at different timings each day.

The best way to 'not to feel sleepy' when you study is to get enough sleep before. Many people suggest many things to avoid sleep while studying, like having coffee, study on a table, study while strolling etc. etc. But, in actuality mind is not sharp when it is tired and when the stress of study comes over it gets crashed and you feel sleep. So best is that as soon as you feel sleepy, just go to sleep and have a refreshing nap and then get up and study. Medically speaking a 16 year old student must have a sleep of atleast 8 hours per day to get the optimum functioning of brain avtivity. But with practice and good healthy habits like sports etc. one can train the body to be able to get good rest in 6-7 hours only. And lastly never eat too much before sitting to study.

Drink something cold and breathe in and out to hyperventilate & wake you up, be interested in your work, make it stand reading or reciting it or take caffeinated drinks like coke or pepsi or coffee n tea if these does not work you really need to sleep 8 hrs a day oh walking and other aerobic exercises daily will keep you alert.
u shud sleep for atleast 8 hours in a day.... i mean 8 outta 24.... and about sleep while studying, well that everybody feels so.. especially when the topic is boring one, u wud feel sleepy... do one thing... (which i used to do) sleep early, around 9pm and get up early around 5.. then do some exercises and ur rest room work etc for 30 mins... then brush ur teeth, and apply little amount of paste on ur face as well.. and then wash ur face and start studying... so 5.30 to 7.30...... two hours are more then enough on a daily basis....

firstly study in a group, like share a discuss on a topic. set gaols and always keep it your mind. still if you feel sleepy wash face do garggles or brush you teeth, do some excercises yet you feel sleepy just shut books and dooze off. sleep worth it
you should sleep at least 6 to 8Hrs. do interesting think when you feel sleepy.
a 16 year boy shud sleep 6 hrs minimum as u have to do lot of preparations for competitive exams if u r preparing for or even otherwise whatever u have to do .

try to drink a lot of water---keep a bottle full of water with u n keep drinking more n more n don't sit for long hours at one place .

after 1 hr or so u can simply go for drinking water or u can go n eat some fruit or u can go n talk to some family member or friend or u can go n have a look at some good greenery out of the window then come back n sit again to study.

try studying in the morning ours than in late nights.----as it is said early to bed n early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy wealthy n wise.

once u read a topic try to write its main points in short that way u will use ur mind n stay awake for long n u will develop interest in the subject.

when u have to study late night make ur time table in such a way that u get to read the subject which involve some writing work .
