Colonoscopy on a 5 year old?

Question:
My daughter is 5 years old and they are wanting to do a colonoscopy on her. Will she have to be put to sleep for this and will she be in pain after? What willthis test tell us? I am worried sick because she is so young and that is my baby girl. If anyone can please help me with this i would appreciate it very much. They are wanting to do it next wed. does that mean since it is so soon that it is serious?

My son has one done at age 6. i know what you are going through. it was the scariest thing i had ever been through. He always had blood in his stools. i took him to the doctor and they run a bunch of testing and could not find the problem. the colonoscopy was our last resort. yes, he had to be put to sleep. the procedure did not last but thirty minutes. they found that he had polpus on his colon. they did not give him any medication or do anything further. the doctor said that he woud grow out of them and i guess he did because he is 14 now and does not have any problems now. good luck to your family!!!
Sounds like they are not sure what the problem is and are hoping it is in the digestive tract. I dont know what the symptoms are but it doesnt sound like she is in a life threatening situation. She will not be in any pain, though she may have some odorous gas for a couple days.
