Nope. It's simply caused by the release of air pockets between the joints. It's a myth that it causes arthritis. It may make your knuckles a little larger (mine have), but it won't cause any major health problems.

Arthritis is mostly caused by genetics. There have been a few studies that say that long-term knuckle-cracking makes your eventual arthritis worse, but the general wisdom is that it doesn't matter.
no!
I dont' think so, but it sure does annoy people, including me. I can't stand to hear people popping their fingers. So, even if popping them doesn't cause Arthritis, a wrong person may hear you, and do something to cause you Arthritis! So I advise you not to think about popping your fingers.
Usually arthritis in the fingers is called rheumatoid arthritis and is a genetic disorder. Therefore you cannot seriously influence whether or not you get arthritis in your fingers. However, because they are joints they should be treated with care and not popped as it can affect the muscles in the area, the surface between the two bones, etc.
i heard that it doesn't. and i'm glad because i'm an active "knuckler".
