How can I stop my cast itching.?
Question:
Answers:
lol! I can empathise with you on this one! I broke my ankle last year and had a cast from the knee down!! I used to use a ruler. (What did you break?) - Best thing though if you broke something - is worry less about how itchy it is and more about movement!
I had my last physio session about 4 weeks ago - so that made me 8 months after the break, and my leg muscle just wasted away. Exercise everything you can, honest - it doesnt seem like you can, but you can! Worry about that more than the itch!! And get yourself a ruler. You will be fine!
Other Answers:
scratch with chopsticks, knitting needles, anything you can shove down there.
get some talcum powder into it
Take the handle of a spoon and stick it inbetween the cast and your leg and scratch away!
you can't from experience
do u have any dried herbs in a jar in the kitchen, sprinkle som down the area of itching and this will cure anymore itches i know cos i was in traction for 6months and i swear by it. good luck.
Do not put anything inside the cast. This could irritate the skin and cause an infection.
Do not use talc or creams inside the plaster cast. These become gritty when mixed with sweat which could also irritate the skin and cause an allergy or infection.
so dont know how people are telling you to put things down it are wrong. when i was a young girl i broke my arm and put a ruler down it and it broke and took me ages to get out.
hope this helps.
I don't think it's the cast that itches
I just had the same thing happened and it was so itchy I tried everything from my 6 year old daughters toy magic wand to a hanger. I found out however if I sprinkled baby power down into the cast it made it bare able. Good Luck to you I feel your pain.
Coat hanger - unbend the whole thing, then bend it in half so there aren't any sharp edges going into the cast. The metal won't break like chopsticks could. Oh, and that 'dried herb' thing is ridiculous - that'd just make it way worse.
DO NOT SHOVE ANYTHING INTO THE CAST!!! When you stick objects into the cast is causes the cotton to all ball up and when they go to take the cast off, although the saw cannot cut you it will burn if you do not have this padding as protection. The best thing to do is to take Benadryl for the itching. If you stick something inside of the cast and you lose it in there it will dig into your skin and could cause it to become embedded into the skin and become infected.
hair drier cool setting
Hi well im a orthopaedic plaster technician so i deal with casts and probs allday,do not stick nothing down you cast to relieve the itchy ie,knitting needles, pens etc,i have seen what this can do to the leg and it isnt nice at all,so i advice you not to.A hairdryer works very well just point it down the cast, also tapping the cast where it itchy with a spoon this will also do the trick.Good Luck.
