How long does it take for a fingernail to grow back?

Question:
I had surgery on my finger about two weeks ago and they basically had to remove the nail, which they then out back in place to keep there until the "new" nail grows in. Sheesh... How long does it take on average?

Answers:
i am going to say at least a month to grow back. it may be longer depending on the damage and the length of the nail in question. just keep it clean and safe.

Other Answers:
It depends on how healthy you are. Drink lot of milk. (calcium)
probably 2 to 3 month
my friend lost the nail on her big toe in Feb this year. it still doen't have one and doesn't look like anything is growing since then. I would say, years. but thats toe nails, not finger nail.
it depends on weather your fingernails grow fast
Yeah, nails grow back depending on the weather. Hot wether=fast growth in nails Cold weather=slow growth in nails
