which is better, rubbing alcohol or peroxide?
Question:
Answers:
Both work well, but as others have said, alcohol burns and why should you cause yourself more pain? Hydrogen peroxide cleans well, releasing oxygen and killing many anerobic bacteria...which often cause bad infections. However, peroxide can be damaging to healthy tissues when applied in full strength. You might want to dilute it with water, about one part peroxide to one part water. Have you considered using betadine/iodine? In the emergency department we often combine peroxide, betadine, and water to cleanse wounds...it gives broader antimicrobal action and the bubbling of the peroxide helps to cleanse dirt from the wound.

Peroxide. Rubbing alcohol is better for sterilizing tweezers, needles or removing sticky residue from stickers. I also use rubbing alcohol to clean my eyeglasses. Works just as good as the expensive sprays that you can get.
no way I would use rubbing alcohol on a wound, maybe to dry up a pimple...
I would dilute peroxide w/ water to clean a wound. It won't sting as much.
first aid books recommend washing w/ soap and water. not on deep wounds though, go to dr.
Rubbing alchol.
rubbing alcholol..peroxide eats good and bad skin tissue..and really alcohol dries it out
Have you ever poured alcohol on an open wound?? Burns like @#*$#*%!! Peroxide does not. Clean the wound with peroxide and then apply an antiseptic gel such as neosporin and cover with a band-aid.
They both do the same thing. Disinfect wounds. It all depends on which one you can stand the most. Alcohol burns like hell, peroxide doesn't.
They both do about the same thing on dirty wounds that just happened. But do not continue use after the wound is clean cause they will kill new skin cells.
Peroxide, definetly. Best thing around for anything.
Even taking internally, but for that you need a Naturopath or Homeopath for the right amount and mixture.
Alcohol should not be used on open wounds but it's a good desinfectant. Peroxide can be used on wounds but should not be used for long periods because it kills off the new growing tissues. Both are good to use depending on the situation.
