Are there standards regarding workspace allocation per transcriptionis. cubicle?

Question: We are expecting to have a further 5 people working in an area where 8 already work and have lost desk space due to overcrowding. Am doing some homework to back up my theory that this would not be healthy, comfortable working environment, with no place even to open a reference book! Help!!

Do they work on a PC, each of them? I think there are regulations how much space a PC operator, of whatever specific profession, needs to have.
I also think it depends on where you are (I guess the regulations are different in India and in the UK.)

Had a similar problem here. Each person has to have a certain area to work in. Do you have a union rep? Try them first. Failing that you could try your safety officer, or you could maybe try Health and Safety. I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.
