Do you think promethazine and fentynal in a picc line may cause a neuropathy?

Question:
My mother was recently in a hospital and was treated through a picc line. When she received these medications she went into some type of attack. It appeared to be selective on the left side. After repeated use in the picc line mom could no longer walk, talk or feed herself. All this in 3 days. She had been very nauseated for some time. She was treated for a urinary track infection. Her Dr. recently had a very large tumor removed from his brain. I tried asking him to stop giving the meds because something happened to paralyze my mother. He continued and I took her out of his care to another hospital. He was going to put the picc line back in saying mom had a staph infection and mom refused.I brought her to the home town hospital. She seemed to slowly recover with the removal of 3 anti depressants. They was also withdrawing her from her from xanax at the 1st hospital . It appeared to be piccline meds that gave her a stroke or nerve damage. That was apparent. Help us find out what.

Answers:
Those medications shouldn't cause any of that, Promethazine is for nausea and fentynal is a synthetic opiate aka narcotic way stronger than morphine, with what you describe it sounds like she could have been having TIA (mini stokes) or a CVA ( a full stroke) while she was in the hospital. When using a picc line they have to remember to flush it after giving medications or drawing blood or any of that or blood will clot in the picc line. It could be very well that ever time they pushed a medication and didn't flush it the previous time through the picc line it was not the medication that did it it could of been a clot pushed out of the line causing your mother to have a stroke or Tia. The TIA or Stroke can leave your mother with permanent paralysis specifically once sided.
this is to the best of my knowledge of what you described I am not a doctor.
