actions against pain pill stealers?

The first thing you must do, especially if you need to get the meds replaced, is file a police report. If you have suspiscions of who may be taking the pills, you can let the police know. They will come out, take your report, dust for prints, and ask questions. In order for a doctor to replace any meds that were stolen, you MUST bring the police report to the doctor. Other than that, the best deterrent is to get a safe or lock box to keep your meds in. Make sure it is a combination lock (safer than a keyed lock because only you will know the combination), and that it is too heavy to be picked up or is bolted to the floor, otherwise they'll just steal the box.
I suppose the best recourse would be to go to your local Police and if that is not an option, go to the druggist that dispensed the pills and ask him what the harmful affects could be for a person taking medication that is not prescribed to them. Then show the person you suspect of the theft (and that is exactly what it is ) the printout the druggist gives you. Something will have to be done as many people die each year from taking the wrong medication. Good luck.
