well as far as what causes it there are many different problems that could cause this to happen ie: cramp, muscle spasms, stress over tension, a number of things i would suggest you ask a doctor or physical therapist but we all know how much $$$ that will cost. but in the meantime bio-freeze works perfect for me it's just like ice-hot only it works faster and smells like peppermint. well good luck and let me know how this works out for you!
