Is it safe to use electric stim over
metal plates?
Question:
Answers:
I am a Chiropractic Assistant and the answer is a resounding NO you can not use EMG anywhere near metal. I have a rod in my leg from my hip to my ankle and I can administer EMG to any other body part except that leg. I can feel the electricity if I get too close to the leg and let me tell you it doesn't feel good. Try calling your State's Chiropractor's association or go to Web sites about Chiropractic Care.
Other Answers:
Why would you even attempt to stimulate the nerves around an operative site. NO, NO, NO! First of all you say you want to place it on wounds over the op site. If they are truly wounds, the skin will be compromised. Secondly, the stimulator sends the current of electrical impulses through the patches. If your patches aren't grounded properly by palcing them in the proper area you are asking for trouble. Please do not attempt this because it can be extremely dangerous.
