what causes heart palpitations.?

Question:

Answers:
in addition to what frustrated nurse said,if these get particularly bothersome and you are concerned, ask you doc to put a holter monitor on you,it is a small machine that you wear for about 24-48 hours and it records your heart rate and rhythm continuously during that time. Then you go back to the doc and he reads the EKG strip from the monitor and can make a diagnoses. He can also do a sonogram of your heart to rule out mitral valve prolapse and a stress test to rule out heart disease.

Other Answers:
It could be many things, drugs, caffeine, some type of cardiac problem like atrial fib, or simply the heart firing from a different site..it could be atrial or ventricular in nature..if this is constant, reoccurring, or causing pain you should go to your local ER and get a EKG and evaluation.
