Try not blinking for a day and you tell me
Our body just does it. When we blink it is our body's way of lubricating our eyes. Other wise they would get really dry.
To help lubricate our eyes and try to remove foreign objects that enter into them. Blinking is a reflex that is just in our bodies, such as breathing. We do it without thinking about it.
Blinking is a reflex. You do it without conscious though or regard, as a function of your autonomic nervous system. the cornea, or clear part of the eye, is susceptible to drying out and would quickly become covered in dust and dirt if we did not constantly blink to clean and moisturize the eye.
Each blink typically takes between 100 and 150 milliseconds from start to finish.

Women and men do not differ in their rates of spontaneous blinking, averaging around 10 blinks per minute in a laboratory setting. When an animal (usually human) chooses to blink only one eye as a signal to another in a social setting (a form of body language), it is known as winking.

P.S. it is impossible to keep your eyes open when you sneeze.
Not only does blinking help to lubricate the eye, but it helps keep the eyes protected from exposure of the sun, and harmful particles in the air that could infect them
