If your doctor proscribed you antidepressants would you take them?

Question:

Answers:
No, of course not. If the doctor proscribed them, then he or she was forbidding me to take them. However, if the doctor prescribed them, I would take them.

If I needed them, yes, I would. I have taken them in the past, and would in the future if I felt I needed to.
Yes. But I would not mix them with (illegal) drugs or alcohol.

depends i guess i would have said something to make him think i needed them but if i thoght the side effects were worth it and i had some sort of math behind it like 10% experienced headaches. and then talked with the doc about what else i can take with them then yeah. but if i hadnt said anything about it and he jsut said take these with out explaining then no most likely not
I have been on Paxil cr for awhile and it work's wonders, so if your doc. tell's you to take anti depressants, by all means take them.
Heck no..they just prescribe because they make money off you. Someone perfectly healthy could go into a doctor and tell them I'm depressed and walk out with a prescription for paxil..You don't need it. Try yoga, meditation, eating healthy, getting 8 hours of sleep, exercising, regular work schedule and plenty of time with yourself, family and friends.
Yes, for as long as I need. But at the same time I'd make lifestyle changes such as good diet and exercise .it's healthy mind in a healthy body.
No.

For mild depression, exercise works just as well.

Also, remember the depression is the symptiom- not the disease. Counseling and close friends are a great way to get the ball rolling to help solve your problems. The best way to solve depression is to solve the underlieing problems, or accept them and move on. Also, keep busy. Don't sit around and dwell or do nothing. Even getting a job to keep busy is a good idea. We are animals who need purpose.

ALSO NOTE! Doctors are pill pushers. Seriously. They get commision on the amount of drugs they push. You don't need drugs to cure everything. I was once precribed Paxil after a 15 minute session at a local health clinic- not even a trained psychologist! There is no way I took them after some guy I barely met wants me to put those chemicals in my body without even knowing the situation. Needless to say I did not use the pills, or have I ever.

There are many ways to help natually. Healthy diet of RAW fruits and veggies, whole grains, fish, fish oils, nuts, green tea. This crap isn't just to be healthy, you actually do feel and work better. Also, do search for 'Ways to be happy', 'ways to improve your life' ect on Yahoo- and do many of those. This technology infested society sometimes forgets the obvious things that make you happy just because you are an animal. Friends, nature, a sunset, sex, a good conversation. .. I could go on.
You need to decide if you need them. Do you have situational depression or chronic? If there is a history of depression in your family or if you have abused drugs/alcohol, your brain chemistry may have been altered. If you have situational depression, you will have to be the one to work through that situation and antidepressants may help you to do that; however, it is important to take them as prescribed. It may also take about 4-6 weeks to take effect. In the mean time, it definitely will help you to rid yourself of negative people and situations. Surround yourself with positive and nurturing people and pursue your passions. Follow your intuition. You know what you need to do. Good luck and good health!
Yes i take them everyday cuz if i dont i act like a total fruitloop ok i need them i take 75mg Effexor a day and im fine but idk its up to you and your doctor
No, I wouldnt. I have clinical depression and I am working with a psychologist to get past it and everyday after my appt I feel releaved. With meds to me is a quick fix and than when you come off them if you go back into depression you have to go back on them for life. I think by me not taking meds I am actually learning how to deal with everything in my life and it has given me great coping skills. My daughter was born still almost a year ago and I was a mess and I enjoy everyday being able to watch myself get better and heal. but you really need to do whats best for you. good luck
She has and I have and they helped.
