**Anorexia??
Question:
**If it helps, I do think I am fat, but I am not trying to be anorexic!**
Answers:
You said that your scale was broken now, but do you regularly weigh yourself? That's one sign of an eating disorder. When my eating disorder (combination of Anorexia and Bulimia, alternating) was in full swing, I was regularly weighing myself about 10 times a day. But I would recommend talking to some sort of doctor, even your GP to start with. Just because you haven't lost your cycle, doesn't exclude the possibility of Anorexia. It just basically means that you are not yet at the point where you are going to drop dead. If it isn't an eating disorder, it could be a problem with your body's ability to determine when your hungry. But you may have just trained yourself to tune your hunger out; that's what I did. If do have Anorexia, I recommend treatment ASAP, because once it reaches the point that hospitalization is necessary, it gets nasty. So just go get it checked out. I know it sucks to start eating more, but a good doctor will hook you up with a nutritionist who will help you determine what you need to eat so you really won't gain too much weight. They monitor it really well. Go check it out. You've got nothing to lose. It may be no big deal.
I'm afraid anorexia isn't something that you try to have, it just kind of creeps up on you. I can't tell you for certain if that's what you have, you need to speak to a professional but I think you should go and see you Dr and talk it through with them. They will be able to put you in touch with people who can help you to learn to see yourself honestly and have a healthy attitude towards food.
Also, you should thank your friend - if this stops you developing full blown anorexia, they may have saved your life.
show me a person who tries to be anorexic!
people with anorexia don't ever think about that, they are sure they are fat and they rarely eat anything
if your stomach is growling - it means you're hungry
As long as you are getting your period your body is maintaining itself. Your body will stop having periods when you are no longer able to carry a baby because your body is in starvation mode.
You do sound as if you are borderline. In our society it's totally understandable to fear getting fat. Fat people are terribly discriminated against in every aspect of our society.
BUT, to look as if you are a junkie isn't good either. Your vital organs do need sustenance and when you go over the line in anorexia you are on your way to a death that isn't very pretty.
If you need help, tell your parents or talk to the school's counselor.
Good luck.
on your period does not mean that your tummy growls..maybe you should see a doctor.like a mental health professional and tell them about your SERIOUS problem.Yahoo will not cure your eating disorder
same thing here!
but for different reasons
my friends thought i was anorexic because I NEVER ate lunch, and im too thin.
but i think to myself everyday that i need to lose weight.
its society that is messing me up--
my little 12 yr old brother told me the other day that i was fat. i was very sad.
but
back to the question.
I don't think that not having a big appetite means your anorexic. Forcing yourself not to eat in order to lose wieght is.
go see a doctor some one who is trained to see the pointers you are giving out I'm a bloke so i cannot give advice to young girls but then most women shouldn't try and do the same please see a specialist before you do or come to harm good luck pet
That is not anorexia. Anoerexics get so hungry, they will eat like crazy sometimes (binge eating). It is psychological-- they think they are very fat when they are skinny. Do you see a fat person in the mirror when you are thin (you can check your Body Mass Index [BMI])?
A lack of appetite means something is wrong physically. You can check with doctor to make sure it is not somthing like a brain tumor or cancer. They can cause loss of appetite. Otherwise you can try eating healthier food.
Or maybe you are doing great. You have to invesigate it. Site below has many great resources and info. Americans eat much, much, much, much more food than they need. The AVERAGE American eats 7 times more food than the AVERAGE Chinese person. It could be you are eating perfectly.
Site below has page on fasting with quotes from 11 MDs. I am always an ideal weight but 3 months ago I fasted 22 days consuming only PURE water. So how much food does someone need when they can fast 40 days like Joel Fuhrman, MD, Moses and Jesus did (all of them are Jewish). During my fast I spent 12 hours a day on Yahoo Answers helping people.
Eating the junk you eat could have caused health problem like irratable syndrome. Try a day with no junk food. First eat juicy fruit like watermelon or red grapefruit. Then eat perfectly ripe avocado. Then eat some bannanas (try to get organically grown).

I guess the question I would have is how is your weight? Is it normal? Are you losing weight? If so I think I would consult a doctor.
First of all Ginkgo is wrong (above) the condition where people eat and them throw up is called Bulimia Nervosa. What you are showing symptoms of is classic Anorexia.
People don't try to be Anorexic, it's a mental condition, where the sufferer just gets locked into a distructive cycle of not eating enough and thinking that starvation is the best way to looking good. But in the end, they can't get out of this cycle and end up dying.
However, if you are aware of it and don't like the idea of it, you should be able to break out of it. One good test would be to go into your kitchen now and eat a big meal. If you can't bring yourself to do that, go see your doctor.
