why do we gag when we clean our tongue, yet do not gag when we eat something?

Question:

Answers:
When we swallow we undergo a response called 3 part swallowing reflex, part of which is lifting uvula (hanging soft part that u see when u say ig aaaaaa) up. evin during swallowing if u touch it u may gag. when u clean ur tongue u stimulate part of vomiting reflex that causes gaging! one can inhibit it by practice and conciously overcomming it (remeber people swallowing swords and dont ask me what happens when NG tube is inserted via nose into stomach.

I heard that our tongues have more odor then our stomaches,,maybe it's the smell that gags you?
what an outstading question I wish I had an answer
The back of the tongue is called the gag reflex area. When ever anything goes back that far in your throat you automatically gag. I'm sure this is to make sure you don't choke.
I do not gag you must have a hang up
