Don't you think your question & priority should be "when is my foot going to stop hurting so much?"

What different does it make to how much money you are going to get? Did you hurt it on purpose?

I had to have my toe broken during an op so I know it's extrememly painful thing to go through but why are we obsessed with suing people?

Don't forget, at the end of the day, you have to go back to work at some point.

Your loss of earnings will have to be covered but I would really concentrate on getting better rather than seeing pound/dollar signs in your eyes.

I feel sad for you.
Have a word with that accident prone woman on tv, who slips over on a patch of water whilst walking thru reception everyday -surely she's seen it by now, she pulls the same one everytime I switch on!
The metarsal bone is in the foot? I did not know that. Thanks!
Do they have workers compensation in Europe? If they do, you should have filled out the appropriate paperwork immediately after the incident. Unfortunately, the healing process of the metatarsal can be really slow, especially if it is a spiral fracture. If you need compensation, you should find a lawyer. but the problem is that from what you described, there is not a lot of room for a case here. If you were at work, workers comp should take care of the medical expenses. The problem with workers comp, is that your employer foots the bill in exchange for an agreement that you will not sue them.

Well if it was an accident, then consider it just that! Why should you have to have compensation for an accident? Sue happy people that is why my insurance is so damn high!
First things first: can you prove that the accident happened at work? In other words, did you fill in an accident report sheet at the time? If you didn't, you are going to have to ask any workmates who saw the accident to be witness to it, possibly in court. If you did, do you have written results of all tests and treatments you've received? If you haven't, get them now. Are you a Union Member? if you are then report to your shop steward at once if you've not done so, the Union will represent you in your claim. If you aren't a Union Member then go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau and ask their advice about whether you can get Legal Aid; whether you can or not ask them if they can suggest a decent solicitor( some solicitors will do a certain amount of work for free, like a letter, but find out first).
With regard to how much you may get, that depends partly on your answers to my questions, partly how well you are represented if it goes to court and partly on how bad the injury is now, what the prognosis is long term and, of course whether or not any, or all of the blame was yours. Good luck.
