My son has a hard lump on his muscle?

Question:
I was wondering if anyone out there has experiencecd this. I took my son to the doctors, hes 7, because I thought he tore a muscle in his groin. However now the doctors want him to have an MRI to check for a tumor. Has anybody ever had a lump on their muscle from an injury? The only time it hurts him when he tries to walk because of the pressure but his legs moves fine otherwise. He can sit on it and everything else. No fractures, I am very concerned, especially since we are waiting for the insurance to approve an MRI. It isnt soon enough. The doctor mentioned muscle cancer. I was hoping to find a peice of mind out there that it still could be a muscle injury and not a tumor. Please let me know if you can get a lump from an injury and if it would only hurt if you apllied pressure to it. Thanks.

Answers:
Listen to the doc.

Rule out the serious stuff first.

What could it be? Could be lots of things. Have i had lumps in muscles? Yup, usually from tearing the muscle and not letting it heal correctly. It would hurt with pressure or with stretching, but not with anything else.

Could be alot of things. Keep your appointment w the doc.

it might be a cyst
my friend had one on her neck she went to a doc to get medicine and get it drained and shes fine now
it may be a tearing in the muscle..... it may be a fluid pocket...... it could just be a contusion....... there are many things that could cause a lump and it may actually not be on his muscle..... ask him if it itches...... if it is red it maybe an allergic reaction..... if it is a tear in the muscle then you still may need to get some sort of assistance due to his young age...
