can 3 unsuccessful back fusion surgeries contribute to inguinal hernia later in life?
Question:
Answers:
It is possible, but I really doubt it. Lumbar surgeries are done with the patient on their stomach, and the surgeon cuts into the back. Inguinal hernias are caused by loops of the small intestine pushing their way through the inginal canal, which consists of layers of tough connective tissue in the lower abdomen, which is on the front of the body. Unless the surgeon happened to miss by about 10 inches and make cuts into your anterior abdomen, it wouldn't cause inginal hernias.
Other Answers:
An inguinal hernia is usually found in the groin or pubic area and I doubt that though the Dr's went anteriorally to get to the spot in your back that they needed to do the surgery that they got anywhere close to where an inguinal hernia would appear any time in your life.
