My son has pneumonia?

He is 6 years old and has been given anti-biotics from the hospital, how long will it take before i see an improvement? Will he get worse before he gets better?

If he's no better after than, get a sputum sample and get the doc to send it to the lab for culture and sensitivity - this means that the right antibiotics can be given. In the mean time, give him plenty of fluids, and if he develops a high temperature give him some junior paracetamol (not aspirin as this can cause stomach upset). If he starts shivering, check his temperature - it's likely that he's too hot rather than too cold. If this happens, sponge him down with tepid water to help bring the fever down - don't wrap him up even warmer as this will make the temperature even higher. Hope he feels better soon. :)
