does chemotherapy rid your body of paarasites?
Question:
Answers:
NO it doesnt. it is a common misconception that chemotherapy kills everything in your body, but it is targeted only at cancer/diseased cells.
There are many classes of chemotherapy agents, to give a few, there are alkylating agents, vinca-alkaloids, plant alkaloids, podophyllotoxin, antimetabolites etc. Their mechanism of action thus varies as well, some bind to specific enzymatic sites on such target sites like tubulin, thus disabling the DNA assembly process, and others actually add alkyl groups to cells.
Parasites are not targetted by chemotherapy agents and thus will not be rid of with chemotherapy. they are treated with a whole range of medications, generally known as "anti-helminths".
Hope this helps. :D
