Is carpal tunnel syndrom work relative and does anyone have any cure methods other than surgury?

Carpal tunnel syndrome is usually caused from repetative motion. Whether it is work or at home crocheting it is the same thing over and over. Your tendons swell and they have a narrow canal to go through. Surgury slices this canal open so they have room to expand then the only thing protecting them is your scar tissue.which is other problems if it over compensates but not part of this discussion. You can get carpal tunnel back even after surgury. If you have this condition and it is NOT surgically fixed you can actually end up with less use of your hands and them in a permanent curled position. I have had the surgury and it was very successful. I had it before mine was too bad. Sometimes if you wait too long your hands don't come back to normal. They are never as strong as they once were but mine were screaming everynight in pain and I quit being able to sleep. I had to have mine done and I'm not sorry. Mine fell asleep every night even when I was in my 20's. I always thought it was because of my overweight and it was because of carpal tunnel. They have never fallen asleep once since the surgury. It is a hard surgury to go through and it took about a year until my hands felt normal and I didn't think about them every second of the day.
Just wanted to add if your not having surgury they sell wrist supports to keep your wrists straight while your sleeping. These really helped my sister in law who has problems with carpal tunnel.

depending on the type of work you do, it can be very much work related
Carpal tunnal syndrom could be related to your work, depending on your job. Basically what it is is that your tendons between your carpals (wrist bones) are worn down due to excessive rubbing against the bone. Unfortunately, there really is nothing you can do besides surgery other than prevent further damage by wearing a wrist brace and reducing wrist movement. good luck!
No it is not always work related. It has many contributing factors, obesity, water retention, small build, hobbies, cold environment, pregnancy, to name a few.

Vitamin B tablets, anti-inflammatories, wrist splints and stop doing the activities that cause it to flare up.
If it doesnt really really bother you DONT get the procedure. I had it done to both hands and now my left hand is numb all the time and it can not be fixed.
sister had from job baking cookies - got workmans comp and dr bills paid - didn't have surgery, just therapy - at home after a few times. she just can't do that kind of work anymore.
yes it can be, I have known people from getting it frrrom cleaning job. The constant circular motions of scrubbing, also you can gte it from typing like we are doing now. Check out how you sleep. If you place your haands under your head, it makes it worse. Alsso you caan buy a brace for your haand and wrist.
besides needing to get a new job rap it up to keep it still for about 2 weeks home-medic magnets if that doesn't hurt take 1 or 2 Bayer's pain relief
I think it depends on the type of work you do. I personally use OPC-3 for anti-inflammatory help. You can research it at: www.lyndaczar.unfranchise.com. Good luck with that.
