I have a pain in my groin -doc says must have xray on hips ? how come.?

Question:

Answers:
It depends on your age and your activity level. It is possible to have fractures of the pelvis in the pubic area that are caused by physical stress or certain bone conditions. If he is just getting an x-ray because he doesn't know what else to do, and that happens a lot, get another opinion.
If you are young, you may want to get another opinion anyway to avoid unnecessary exposure.
If you are older, no big deal. Maybe arthritis or any of the above.

Other Answers:
Probably just investigation, ruling thinks out. Just normal practise.
you should have asked the doctor!
Have you been doing something you shouldn't??
If the word "hips" was used by your doctor, then this was poorly explained. If this was your interpretation, then you misunderstood. You will most likely be having a pelvic X-ray.
Coz your groin and your hips are all part of your PELVIS....duh.
why u askin us??
u shud of asked the doc while u where there,
thats what he's paid to do
I've heard of back xrays for pain in the hips - but not what you're suggesting. And that's only because a lot of pain is what is called 'referred pain'. I get pain in my shoulders, but it's referred from my neck, because that's where the problem is. There's nothing wrong with my shoulders.
I am not a DR, and you should ask him/her.
BUT in my experience with back and hip pains, the DR's just want to make sure it's a not something serious and that the groin pain is muscle / nerve related - you may have sprained it from exercising,
everything is connected - joints, muscles, nerves & tissues.

Feel better!
cause s/he trained for six years to get a PHd in medicine - hope that answers your question. Get well soon
