Why might blood be in my stool?

Question: I think its blood. Since last night I went twice, and though they looked and felt normal (no extra pain or discomfort) the liquid that I sometimes get at the end when I wipe was not clear or brown but hawaiin-punch red. Is there a way to tell if this is a mixture of something I ate or that I'm losing blood in my stool?

Hemmorhoid blood is generally bright red like blood. Blood from farther up is black. Haawaiian punch red? what did you eat? Has the problem continued? A little staining is not all that unusual. What age are you? Have you had the lower GI inspection that is reccommended after age 50? That will tell all the answers. But what you mention does not sound serious. Watch for continuing symptoms.
