Has anyone gotten hives from benadry?

Question:
Its strange, because they give benadry to peapole who have hives to take them away. But I took Tylenol PM one night and woke up with hives all over. I went to doctors for about 2 months and they told me to talke benadry, then I went to a very good doctor and they found that it was the benadry. Very upsetting because I kept talking benadry to take them away. All I had to do is stop the benadry. Has this happend to anyone?

Answers:
I am deathly allergic to benedryl. I break out in hives all over my body even inside places you shouldn't get hives, and my throat swells shut. I almost died from a benedryl reaction when I was younger, and was givin it again as an adult thinking it may have just been a child hood allergy, but it's not. I have met quite a few people who are allergic to benedryl. Everyone's body handles different medications differently. I wouldn't take it if I were you, if it makes you get hives that is allergic reaction..There are other things out there now that can be given for allergic reations to things besides just benedryl.

Other Answers:
no. its suppose to help hives.
Years ago, I was prescribed Benadryl to relieve hives. It reduced the hives and itching, but it made me sleepy so I had to stop taking it

I've never heard of anyone getting hives as a result of taking Benadryl, but if your doctor says it's so, you should listen to him or her.

Maybe there's another drug the doctor can prescribe to treat your hives. Good luck.
Well, you know, practically every medication induces very odd, unusual reactions in a few people. It appears that you are one of the unlucky ones.

All that Benedryl has ever done to me (other than relieve allergic reactions) is make me very, very sleepy (which is why it's also marketed--under other brand names--as an OTC sleep inducer).
no Benadryl has been a life savor for me but i'm not sure of benadry...or did you miss spell it?
Its probably not the benadryl, it's probably the acetaminophen in the (tylenol PM)
