Ever heard of being allergic to the sun?

The other day I went swimming. Any part of my skin that doesn't get regular sun exposure is red and ITCHY. This happens every summer with my first sun exposure, very odd indeed.

If it happens with your first sun exposure, it's a good bet it's simply your skin's reaction to all the UV rays after a winter's worth of bland sunshine and thick clothing.it's probably a light sunburn, but no real allergy. There is such a thing as an allergy to the sun, but such people generally are deathly allergic and have to cover themselves head to food when going outside, and cannot allow even a little bit of exposure, let alone hours worth of swimming under the sun. I'd recommend sunscreen, even if you want to tan. Just get a low SPF sunscreen.

I have the almost same problem. But if its only your first incounter then i would say your not allergic too it. but it is possible i bet.

I have had that happen before also. I don't know what causes it.

micheal jackson is allergic to the sun, im serious too thats why he has a umbrella all the time, but u should try putting some suntan lotion on before u get out in the sun

I used to think I was allergic to the sun because every time I laid out for a tan I got a mild red rash. Come to find out I was allergic to iodine and it was in the lotion I was using! Duh!! I have heard of sun allergy though. You might want to consult a dermatologist. Sometimes this kind of allergy can lead to skin cancer if you're not careful.
