Ok, how many of you out there absolutely hate taking blood tests?
Question:
Answers:
I had to go in for blood work for some pre-op work, the nurse came at me with a needle while I was sitting in the chair and from the look on her face I must have been ghost white and sliding down the chair...I wound up horizontal on the cot while she took my blood for testing. I have had many similar reaction to blood draws since. P.S. I'm studying to be a paramedic. Should be a hoot. hehe lol :)

At 53, I'm still scared to death of needles
I've had a lot of medical problems and a lot of blood drawn over the past few years. The veins in my arms are pretty much shot, so they usually have to take from the top of my hand or the side of my wrist. Guess I'm just used to it. But..I don't watch them put the needles in. i actually used to watch them take the blood. but i've had one too many done in the last few years. i'm not real thrilled about having blood tests anymore.
Only a masochist likes to be stuck with needles.
I can't stand them. My biggest fear is needles!! Every vaccination I've had I've either fainted, burst into tears or refused to have it done! My last blood test back in February, I got wise to the nurse, and purposely burst into tears at the very mention of it, so I could get a mouth swab instead. Cowardly of me I know, but considering I have had no other treatment on the NHS, I'm getting my money's worth.
I'm more afraid that there will be results from the blood tests - that the doctors may find something.
I am sorry to hear that you have so much pain when you take a blood test. My veins don't show in my arms so I use my hand and I don't find my hand too painful, so perhaps if you allow the doctor to use your hand to draw blood, it might not be so painful.
Just be happy and glad and Relieved that nothing is found. I hate them, but they are a necessary evil. I now tell the phlebotomist which arm to draw my blood from (one of my arm has rolling/hiding veins) and I watch them draw my blood. If I'm relaxed and not apprehensive the draw seems to go quicker and smoother.
