trapped nerve?

Question:
i have had an oparation for a trapped nerve in my upper spine.the surgeon went in through my throat and removed a disc which was trapping nerves and my spinal cord.after three months my conditions have worsened ie the pain in my arms & hands have increased & the numbness in my legs have spread restricting my walking.I now am awaiting another mri scan without any urgancy.has anyone out there encountered such a thing. any help or advice will be greatly received as i am getting nowhere with the nhs.

Answers:
Ooohh, that doesn't sound very good/nice.

You should not be getting any numbness at all - you should either go back to you GP or just go and sit in A&E. Unfortunately this is the only way to go.

My hubbyhas a trapped nerve in his back & was waiting for a MRI. We were told he should hear after 8 months! 2 years later, we have found that he has been taken off the list as they don't think he will need surgery, therefore no need for him to have this scan - SAYS WHO??

He has been advised to go & sit in A&E next time he has cramp (his main symptom) but a source in the know, and that way he will get dealt with sooner.

What a shame that this is the way we need to act to get decent treatment.

I don't blame the doctors, nurses, GPs & other healthcare professionals, I balme the fat cats in the NHS - they have more wages than common sense!

I do hope you get some help real soon - whatever way you can.

Good luck :-)

Other Answers:
Call your neurosurgeon immediately, another MRI should not be delayed, also call your PCP/Dr. This should be dealt with now.
I'M SORRY TO HEAR YOUR DILEMMA. I HAVE A TRAPPED NURVE IN MY LOWER SPINE. ALTHOUGH IT HAS EASED FROM THE ONSET ABOUT 18MONTHS AGO, IT HASN'T GONE COMPLETELY GONE, IVE HAD PHYSIO AS MY LEFT HIP WAS HIGHER THAN MY RIGHT. THIS CARRIED ON 4 A YEAR & HALF, NOW IM SUFFERING FROM SWOLLEN LEFT FOOT IT GOES A DARK, MAUVEY COLOUR, SOMEHOW I FEEL MY INFLAMMED &PAINFUL FOOT MAYBE THE RESULT OF THE TRAPPED NERVE IF I LAY DOWN ON MY LEFT SIDE I CAN FEEL THE SCIATIC NERVE IN TOP OF OUTER THIGH &IN TPO OF LEFT BUTTOCK. I HOPE IT ISN'T AS MY GP SAID MY FOOT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY TRAPPED NERVE. ITS A COINCIDENCE THAT MY FOOT WAS PERFECT B 4 I GOT THE TRAPPED NERVE(SCIATICA).I ADVISE YOU TO INSIST AN APP'NT TO GET THAT MRI SCAN, YOU ARE THE ONE SUFFERING BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO. I ALWAY'S TELL MY GP IF I DONT AGREE WITH HIM &HE DOESN'T LIKE TO BE TOLD HIS JOB, LIKE I DON'T LIKE HIM TELLING ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO WHAT IM GOING THROUGH IT'S MY BODY SO I KNOW IT MUCH MORE THAN HIM, REMEMBER ITS YOUR BODY &YOUR THE BETTER JUDGE OK.
