Answers:
What you're describing sounds like herpetic stomatitis.

Did your doctor diagnose it as that?

It is not uncommon. It is very painful to the child, and it is very difficult to experience as a parent (I have).

If it is herpetic stomatitis, there is nothing you can effectively do to accelerate recovery - it takes 7-10 days. You primary concern through this time is that your child stays hydrated - that is critical.

If it is herpetic stomatitis, it will recur - but the first episode is always the worst.

Good luck with it.

Other Answers:
The cold sores are related to what he is fighting off. Give him some baby orajel and some pain meds such as a mix of Tyelnol and Advil.
I would take him to a different doctor, honestly. 2 days sounds like a long time to go with a high fever. Not to scare you, but maybe get a second opinion.
are the "cold sores" white? He has thrush if this is true...

contact your doctor!
ABREVA.. it's expensive but it only takes a little bit...
yogurt will help try it i m serious, but keep giving him the medicine for fever. the active cultures in yogurt should help with the sores. also doctors say that a temp of 100 or 101 is slightly elevated but there is no serious worry untill 104 or higher even in young children. a fever for more than one week is dangerous signifiying an infection that cant be fought off by immune alone. but if your son can fight the infection he will be less suseptibale to the same infection in the future.
I don't know the name but it is know also as pill number 5 (Walgreen's), they are little white pills made of alcohol and that will dum the baby's shores...and will stop the pain
It could be Hand Foot and Mouth disease.
It's curable and very common amongst children.
However, be careful because adults can contract it as well and I've heard it's not fun, regardless of the age you are when you get it.
I wish I could tell you what would make him better but I can not. but you can put some vanilla flavoring on the sores in his mouth and that will ease some of his discomfort. Make sure you keep giving him plenty to drink even if it is something that you do not like for him to drink on a regular basic. Then just try and comfort him and it will maybe be over soon.
You need to call a pharmacist and ask them what to do.
If your kid doing fever,2 time in day put him in warm water to get his fever down,it will help.
If he still doing fever in the third day,go back at the hospital or to your family doctor.good luck
give him tylenol and i recommend to take him to another doctor. you shouldn't wait any longer because hes in pain. try to find out more about your baby's situation by looking around in the internet or calling hospitals and clinics.
