Help! I`m having severe shooting pain in my butt..(left side) and in my leg. I`m constantly bending at work.?
Question:
Answers:
Working your butt off? LOL - no.
Shooting pain is generally associated with the irriation of nerves. What is known as the sciatic nerve (it's actually two nerves wrapped in a common sheath) arises from the sacral plexus and runs through the area of the gluteal muscles and what are known as the lateral rotators (piriformis, obturator internus, gemellus.. etc). If these muscles are tight (meaning they should be stretched) there can be added pressure and aggravation to the nerve as it pass through this area. This can have a noticable effect on the nerve and associated sensations - resulting in the pain you've described.
However, with all that said sciatica is one of the most common self diagnosed conditions, and you should head to see your doctor or therapist for an assessment to determine what exactly it is, so you can get better as soon as you can. =)

Sciatic nerve possible pinch or irritation. One remedy was ice bag ( very large bag)above area on back of hip (wrapped in towel for 10 min. at a time). That's when I found Ice works wonders but don't keep it directly on skin. I propped up on it while I sat on couch. Elevate leg.
THIS IS A TYPE OF SAITICA

Do you have any red bumps or anything that resembles a pimple? It could be a pilonidal cyst. These are very common for men in their young adult hood into their 30's. Its a collection of hair and other debris from your body that gets into your pores.
It could also be a boil. These are very similar to pilonidals but the major difference is that pilonidal cysts typically bore into your skin and create a drainage pore called a sinus. A boil will burst near the surface of itself with out any tunneling. Think of it as a pimple gone extremely bad.
Otherwise I would think its a pulled muscle or misalignment in your spine. Best advice I could give you is go to your doctor once the pain becomes unbearable or doesn't go away or appear to be healing.
Sounds like sciatica. I was prescribed the use of one of those frozen gel-pack thingies to alleviate symptoms. Just put the cold gel-pack on the painful area for about 10 minutes at a time while relaxing in the evening.
yeah, it does sound like sciatica.
