I sprained my rotator cuff during football practice, how long will it take me to recover?

Question:
It's fairly minor, it does not require surgery, but it is painful to lift the arm and it pops when I reach around my back from the torso to my neck. The trainer at my school tells me it's a Rotator Cuff Sprain. I'm looking for info on how long it will take me to recover, I have a scrimmage exactly 1 week from now. I've rested it for 1 full day so far and have iced it several times. Thanks for any help and info you can give me!

Answers:
I can go ahead and tell you its gonna be longer than a week unless your Wolverine. Rotator cuffs are trick little blighters, you need to exercise extreme caution. It could take up to 2 to 3 weeks to recover. My advice Ibuprofen to reduce inflamation, keep that arm as still as possible and maybe see a physcian for further treatment options. Good luck.

Depends a LOT on how hard you work to REHAB it! Could take a week. Could take 6 months!! You can't put a timetable on it, you just have to work hard at REHABIN it! Don't get discouraged, you'll be alright in enough time to make the newspapers!
Don't trust the trainer at school. see a doctor, I'm 44 yrs old and have horrible aches and pains and joints that don't work good because I trusted my trainers when I had "minor" injury's at school in sports, it is your body for the rest of your life. Get professional help.. don't let them bully you by calling you a wuss either, do it for the later part of your life.!!
I had rotator cuff problems. It took me four weeks of physical therapy, three times a week, before I felt better. I still do the exercises. It's been three months since I had the therapy.
