Is there anything wrong with my knee?

Question:
When I tried to straighten my knees (to stand up from crouching position), my right knee joint will produce a bit of sound (bone sound?) everytime.. it has been few years now.. I even consult a doctor and he said this is normal.. but I think I heard from somewhere that this is one of the symptoms of bad knee problem (because the bones in the joint are rubbing each other that causes the sound, the bones will become thinner and thinner)

Answers:
if your doctor said its normal, its normal.
however, since you are curious, the usual reasons for painless click or snap in the knee are discoid meniscus and plica in the knee.refer the net
please, please dont consult any one else unless it is painful. you are bound to meet a starving surgeon who will succeed in convincing you to undergo scans, scopy or surgery

by the way, the net cost for an arthroscopy in my institution is less than 1000 rs- that works out to less than 30 US dollars- cheap , huh? keep it in mind when somebody offers you surgery!

Drs. are not trained to give you STUPID answers. If he said it's normal, it's normal. So don't worry. I have a hip that pops every time I take a step and it causes me no problems nor pain. It's just me.

If you have no pain and there is no swelling, etc. I wouldn't think much of it. I have a knee that was injured and sometimes I have to be careful that I don't twist the wrong way or anything. My good knee pops and cracks but feels normal compared to my other. u May have a menisc.( the little bone that protects the bone of the knee) overused and this would cause u a real problem.please see a traumatologist

If you are uncomfortable with what your primary care physician is telling you ask for a referral to an orthopedic specialist. It sounds as though you lost some of the fatty pad at the end of one or more of the bones in your leg. While it is not a major problem now, it couldn't hurt to have it checked by someone who specializes in orthopedic medicine.

you have a condition know as crepitus, which is a grinding or crunching sounds. it usually means the cartilage is roughed up some, if your doctor says every thing is normal, trust him/her, or if you are not sure get a second opinion. both my knees do this and i don't have any trouble with them
