Burping up Sulpher?
Question:
also have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism .
Answers:
This is caused by too much acid in the stomach. Can cause nausea, heartburn, stomach pain and burning, burping up eggy taste or acidic (sulphur) taste.
If it happens occasionally it could just be that you ate or drank the wrong thing. But if it happens on a regular basis, 2-3 or more time a week, you could have acid reflux or GERD, or you could have a hiatal hernia.
Crackers or toast could help this. Or taking some antacids, tums, rolaids, maloxx, mylanta, pepcid, zantac, ect. Or if none of these help, there are several prescription meds you can take for it. Also, you can try elevating the head of your bed a little. This keeps you from laying flat and helps keep the acid from rising and causing problems when you lie down.
Other Answers:
Strong indigestion is one possible cause; it sounds like an adominal/stomach issue. One cause may be from a bacteria (turning sulphates to sulfides) which may be living in your intestines. If it's an intermittent/off and on problem, it could be viral. Have you talked with your doctor about prescription strength Zantac or Prilosec? Acid reflux could also be contributing.
Also see if your doctor can get your gall bladder checked out to eliminate the possibility of gallstones. An internist can eliminate a lot of possible causes and set your mind (and stomach) at ease. God bless you and better health to you.
have loads of green veggies, only use high fibre wheat bread, restrain from any form of meat, have at least 10-13 glasses of water and exercise regularly.
have the hormonal pills prescribed by your doctor, to counter hypothyroidism also. (yours is a lifestyle problem)
