ooo this is an easy one! I had a lot of sinus problems for the first 24 years of my life. I had a few sinus infections each year and pneumonia once. Doctors put me on several different nasal steroid sprays and they didn't help a lot, but on my 24th birthday i got one of the best presents ever. I got a neti pot, which is just a ceramic pot designed so that you can irrigate your nasal passages with saline...yes, just salt water. I have only had two small sinus infections since and I was able to recover without using antibiotics.
this is the best design I've used personally:

I also recommend using pure unfiltered honey and garlic when you feel like you may be getting sick. Both have antiseptic / antibiotic properties. Inhaling tea tree oil vapor can help open your sinuses if the passages are too swollen for the water to flow through. Also fish oil (omega 3 fatty acid in particular) helps reduce inflammation from allergic reactions. Eating plenty of fresh fruits always helps too....except for oranges because they can actually make allergic reactions and inflammation much worse.
I haven't needed to go to a doctor for several years now...except for vaccination shots required for work.

So then use the spray. duh.
You can't cure it, can only prevent it from getting worse. The doctor is right, you have to use the spray. You should sleep at least 8 hours a day, preferably on the side. Try to eat cod liver's oil twice a day, and if all doesn't work, you can go for an op, but then the op only keeps the prob away for a few years, before it haunts you again.
i have sinus problems a lot and i buy mucinex you can get it at walmart, walgreens, cvs
walgreens has their own brand its cheaper
but i have got where i have to use nose spray a lot too
What is the problem? Is it allergies? It is a sinus infection? A sinus infection can be cured with antibiotics. If it's allergies, you're just going to have to take your meds and try to avoid the triggers. You really need to put more info here to get a good response.
Try a natural remedy: Use pure essential oil of eucalyptus and tee tree in a steamy shower every morning. Do some deep breathing of the steam. This should help. If you have a severe sinus infection called sinusitis, you will need a dose of antibiotics to clear that up. If you have a chronic lung/breathing problem such as asthma, ask your doctor first before doing anyting of the things I suggest. My disclaimer. Hope this helps.
Pray to our God, whose name is also Jehovah Rapha (or Yahweh Rapha), for healing. Try using a humidifier at night to make the air moist and unclog your sinus passages. Eat less dairy products so they wont create more mucous build up. Drink plenty of water to flush them and you can also try the prune juice flushing method.
Be very careful when using over the counter nasal spray. After 3 days of continued use, you can become addicted to it. It's called a rebound effect. The inside of your nose swells, making you feel like you have a stuffed up nose, and the only thing to rid that feeling is the nasal spray. I was addicted to it for 18 months. I kept a bottle in my car, nightstand, every purse I owned, etc. just so I would never be without it. I finally went to an Ear, Nose &
Throat doctor that helped me to get off it with prescription (non addictive) sprays, etc.
More information would help. If your problem is not allergy-related, ignore this answer! ALWAYS trust the advice of your doctor over what you read on the internet - discuss whichever answer you choose with him before changing your medication!
If you're suffering allergy-related sinus problems, try different drug combinations - mine completely failed to respond to newer antihistamines and to most older ones, but I tried different drugs until I found one that worked well for me. Also - if the spray is an antihistamine, you may be causing worse symptoms when it wears off than if you used a pill version. The pills take longer to have an effect but also wear off more gradually.
