Anyone with an astigmatizma have laser eye surgery?

Question:
How was your experience? Any problems? how is your sight now?

Answers:
I had very bad astigmatism. I wore glasses/contacts for 35 years & got sick of it. 4 years ago I went to a laser clinic in Las Vegas and had my eyes done. 1 eye was done for closeup, 1 for distance. (I call myself lizard eyes). I purchased the lifetime warranty insurance which was a good choice as the next morning after the surgery I had to have the left eye redone as the cornea didn't lay down properly. It was a smooth experience. They gave me 10mg of Valium before the surgery and some pain pills to take afterwards but I didn't need them. I did the aftercare faithfully, had no problems and my sight is great now. Lasix for everyone I say!

Other Answers:
My son just had it done and he is delighted. He can see without glasses for the first time in about 12 years. He is 22 now and started wearing glasses when he was young. He had 20/400 vision. Can see and drive without his glasses!
My grandmother had this surgery several years ago. At first she had a lot of problems with her eyes being very dry, which is normal. However, after a year or so had passed, she had perfectly normal 20/20 vision with no astigmatism and no side effects. For years now she has not had to wear glasses.

I think laser eye surgery is considered to be very safe. There is always a risk of something going wrong in any surgery, but the odds are very low. If you are concerned, talk with your optometrist about it, and ask around to find a good surgeon to perform the operation.
