When I lay down I get a stuffy nose and it gets itchy on the roof of my mouth.?

Question:
For the past week or so, any time I lay down I will get a stuffy nose, later when I wake up in the middle of the night, the roof of my mouth is itchy.
I have been taking Benadryl and Robitussin. They've been working, but I need to know it this is a serious problem, or if it's just a cold or something.

Answers:
Sounds like an allergy

i totally get this too, it tends to happen to me if i eat or brush my teeth within 30 min of going to bed. i've found that drinking a little luke warm water right before i hit the sack it usually helps. i also keep the glass of water by my bed just in case. but the way i get rid of it if its already there is i drink warm milk
I don't think that you have acold at all. When you lie down the blood pressure in your head rises slightly and this can cause the mucus-membranes in the nose to swell giving you the 'stuffed-up' feeling. Try to breathe cooler air and take a drink of cold water before lying down. Keep some water by the bed for when you wake up in the night.
