Depends on the type of hernia. If its inguinal (probably, lump in the groin?), its day case (unless you are a high risk patient). It could be done under a local anaesthetic too. Takes about 30mins, surgeon depending. You will be up and about inside a day, & home that evening if all is ok (unless it is on the private!!!)
Discuss medications with your GP, you don't want to get there and be sent away by an unhappy anaesthatist. ACEI's are ok though (whic you are probably on), captopril or ramapril??

Two questions. I have both conditions.

Hernia in abdomin - - half a day - - op -- out same day !
High BP- - - medication + decent life style .
I've had high BP for 30 years - - still here !!!

i had to have a minor proceedure and the doctor gave me amlodopine which worked i tried alternative remedies including six bananas a day which did not
