Embarassing as it is, I am experienced in this field. When I was about 12 I froze my tongue to a pole (long story). But anyways I had to rip it off and my tongue was pretty torn up. But all they had me do was gargle salt water and peroxide a few times a day.

you don't eat anything with salt on it or in it. That will hurt like the dickens!
there's not much you can do. Swish around with hydrogen peroxide mixed with water to clean it. (don't swallow it lol) I've had that happen, not much you can do.
If it's a really deep cut then go to a doctor. If it's not too deep then you can't really do anything.
Try not to bite it anymore until it heals. If you leave it alone it will heal in under a week. if its a giant gash, then you need to go get stitches.
Have your boyfriend/girlfriend kiss it and make it better.
Hold some cold water in your mouth. Stops and bleeding and makes it feel better.
Hurts like ***! But the great thing about the tongue is that is it one of the fastest healing parts on our bodies. One of the other is our eyes.
If it's hanging like a Florida chad in the 2000 election, please don't look at it with a magnifying glass like idiots did then.
Suck an ice-cube to stop the bleeding, then suck a throat pastille, like Mebucaïne, to relieve the pain. In future, engage your brain before your mouth, then you won't have to bite your tongue.
