Many of the hospitals in my area have a branch of home visiting nurses. The patients doctor needs to order this--like a prescription. The nurses will visit maybe 2-3 times a week. This branch of nursing care also have bath girls to go out and give the patients bathes. They receive orders from the patient"s doctor and report the patient condition to the patient's doctor. This is used mostly by the elderly, but not always.

Community health nurses go out into the community and visit patients that need daily care and help with something due to a medical condition. They may come to do an IV, wash and dress a surgery cut, or just to help the home care giver with bathing a patient.
